Radiation Therapy is usually done on an outpatient basis. We use the latest technology to pinpoint cancer and deliver the most effective dose of radiation to the tumor while limiting radiation exposure to otherwise healthy tissue. Most patients who need radiation have treatments 4-5 days a week for 5-7 weeks, while each treatment typically lasts 1-5 minutes.

The type of radiation prescribed by your radiation oncologist depends on several factors, including the type of cancer, the size of the cancer, and the cancer's location in the body. The three main divisions of radiation therapy are grouped into external-beam radiation, internal radiation, and systematic radiation.

We offer the radiation treatments listed below:

  • IGRT or Image-guided Radiation Therapy is the use of imaging to ensure that the radiation treatments target the tumor and the at-risk tissues. IGRT is commonly used to treat postate cancer. It more effectively allows the physician to shrink and reduce possible side effects by allowing the physician to spare the bladder and rectum.

  • IMRT Technology or Intentisty Modulated Radiation Therapy is typically used for patients with tumors located within a close proximity of vital organs.

  • Stereotactic Radiosurgery is a highly precise form of radiation therapy used to treat tumors and other abnormalites of the brain. Precise treatment is delivered directly to the tumor while minimizing radiation exposure to healthy brain tissue.

  • Electron-beam Therapy treats superficial cancers of  the skin, breast, face, and head neck.
